A 1920s /30s conserve pot and lid designed by Mabel Lucie Attwell for Shelley. A conserve pot in this range of china is extremely rare and a collector will be very lucky to find one.
This particular example is decorated with Mabel Lucie Attwell's illustration of a cute little girl seated on a smiling crescent moon holding a "Boo Boo" up to the moon's 'face', with several other "Boo Boos" seated next to her and another reaching for a star. The legend on the back reads "THE MAN IN THE MOON,WOULD LOVE TO SEE,THE FAIRIES I HAVE, TO STAY WITH ME"
Condition is very good with no damage excepting a hairline to the white body - which has been professionally restored (and no longer visible).
Marked to the base with the pre-war (1920s/30s) Shelley backstamp.
