Around 1900 Wilemans produced a series of teapots based on political figures of the day which included Lord Salisbury, Joseph Chamberlain, Paul Kruger and William Gladstone. They all had the same body, only the lids forming the different heads varied. This teapot is from that series. A series of similarly political coffee pots with taller bodies in the intarsio range based on the same politicians was also produced.
