Large Wileman & Co. Intarsio Vase designed by Frederick Rhead

Stock No. 349

An "Intarsio" jug / vase designed by Frederick Rhead for Wileman & Co. circa 1898, decorated with flying Ibises. (We did consider they might be storks, herons or cranes but thought the curvature of the long bills looked more like ibis's bills. However we are not expert ornithologists and welcome feedback from those who are !)
This jug is amongst a small group of the larger pieces of Intarsio designed by Frederick Rhead standing 13.5 inches tall, and will make an ideal centre piece or for use as a vase for a generously sized floral display.
It is in absolutely perfect unrestored condition. A truly stunning piece!
Marked to the base with the backstamp for Wileman & Co.(for 1890 -1910) placed below the words THE FOLEY. Below the Wileman backstamp is the word "INTARSIO" and below that - ENGLAND. Also marked to base with Registered Design No. 330999 (indicating 1898) and a further pattern number 3266.
