An Arts and Crafts silver and enamel brooch with Celtic Knot design. The design is by
Archibald Knox
for
Liberty & Co.
Condition is good with no damage to the front silver or the enamel. Back has several scratches and flea-bite nicks to the silver. Pin has been replaced, although the hinge and clasp appear to be original.
Fully hallmarked as follows :- Maker - J. M. B. for
John Millward Banks
(who was registered in 1882 for Chester,Birmingham Sheffield and London) passant lion (sterling silver), Chester shield and 'B' (date-code) for 1902.
(We have seen another example of this particular Knox design, but of smaller dimensions, and made by W. H. Haseler (marked WHH), undated who also produced Knox's designs for Liberty & Co..)
