Early Mickey Mouse Bowl by Paragon China - (Sold)

Stock No. 220

A Rare Paragon China bowl hand decorated in enamels with an illustration of Mickey Mouse and bearing the early signature "Walter E. Disney" dating from c.1930. This is only two years after Mickey Mouse was originally conceived by Walt Disney and the first cartoon "Plane Crazy" was released in 1928 with the original art work of UB Iwerks. This bowl therefore reflects how Mickey Mouse looked in those early days. Starting in the early 1930s, changes were made to Mickey's appearance over the years until we arrive at the rather plumper, toothless mouse with different eyes that the world recognises today.
These extremely scarce pieces bearing the original portrayal of Mickey were only made for a few years, as the artistic representation of Mickey Mouse was soon to be changed and modified in the early 1930s.

Condition is fair with no chips cracks or restorations. There is some partial rubbing to the design which indicates the bowl has had some use in its life, but which does not overly affect its display.
Marked to base with Paragon's Star mark and "ROYAL PARAGON CHINA Mickey Mouse Series COPYRIGHT & REG."
