1920s Paragon China Beatrice Mallet Series Teapot (Sold)

Stock No. 340

A 1920s Paragon China Teapot with a Beatrice Mallet design of a little boy and girl playing tennis and the rhyme "Priscilla's good at playing net, And hopes to win the game and sett". On the other side a pair of children in pyjamas with candle about to go upstairs to bed. Both illustrations also bear the printed signature of Beatrice Mallet.
This really is an unusually rare example. The body shape is the same as Paragon used for the Future Telling Series and Noah's Ark both designed by J. A. Robinson and also the other Beatrice Mallet design with 2 children in a 1920s car. In several decades of looking at Paragon children's china, we haven't come across this Beatrice Mallet design on a teapot. We have in a very few instances seen it on a cup and a plate produced by Paragon, but never before on the teapot.
Condition is very good with no damages and little wear. The teapot has 2 small paint marks left by the decorator prior to firing and the handle has a slight roughness in one place due to the glaze not covering that part sufficiently during firing. We mention these very minor imperfections for the sake of completeness and which do not detract from this highly attractive and scarce piece of 1920s Paragon children's china.
Condition is very good with no damages and little wear.
The teapot is marked to the base with the Paragon Star mark and PARAGON FINE BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND Beatrice Mallet Series

height of teapot (to top of finial) : 5.25 inches
