1930s / 1950s Egg Cup formed as a Girl with an Adjacent Dog-Sold

Stock No. 361

This scarce eggcup was obtained from a collector who described it as Little Red Riding Hood (with the wolf adjacent). However, she is not wearing a totally red cape as it seems to be painted yellow underneath with red streaks painted over it - so we are not totally convinced! However, either way it is a rare eggcup, marked "Foreign" to the base (laterally and not in the typically circular stamp used on many pre-war German eggcups sold in the U. K. at that time).
It does have a passing resemblance to the egg cup formed as boy with an adjacent dog licking his face shown in our item 352 (which is marked as Japanese), but seems to have a different thickness of the porcelain body and a different glaze - and the dog (or wolf?) is not licking the face in this one. Condition is good with no damage.
