1940s/50s Egg Cup modelled as a boy wearing a pierot costume with a dog licking his face, made in occupied Japan between 1945 and 1952.
Condition is very good except one fine hairline crack from rim to one eye - (see illus. above)
Marked to base "MADE IN JAPAN"

This eggcup is featured in Egg Cups an illustrated History and Price Guide by Brenda C. Blake (1995 ed.) page 28 item 192 illus. Plate #41. She describes it as an oriental boy with dog licking his face.
