1930s Rocking Egg Cup modelled as a Pair of Monkeys (Sold)

Stock No. 231

A scarce 1930s rocking egg cup formed as a pair of monkeys clutching at each side of the egg cup. The base of this example has an unusually pronounced curvature for a "Rocker" or rocking egg cup. Decorated with an orange and green lustre glaze and with black overglaze eyes, hands and feet. Marked to the base with the familiar printed circular stamp reading "foreign" which was typically used on pre-war novelty ceramics of German manufacture prior to 1939.
