HB Quimper Pecheur series Bowl designed by Paul Fouillen - Sold

A scarce 10 inch diameter French faience bowl made at the Hubaudière Bousquet Quimper faiencerie circa 1925 and bearing an illustration by Paul Fouillen from the highly desirable and sought after "Pecheur" (Fishermen) series.The distinguishing features of this popular series is that the figures depicted are animated and involved in some activity, often with a gently humourous slant - unlike the typically static and "wooden" figures that had largely been the norm on Quimper faience prior to this series.
This bowl was intended for display and bears an original pierced back rim to facilitate wall hanging.
Marked to both the front and back with the HB Quimper pottery mark and bearing the legend on the front "PAS DU MEME AVIS" (Not in agreement)- the couple seem to be pulling each other in opposite directions! (See illustrations above)
