Carlton Ware Walking Ware Silver Jubilee Kneeling Cup (Sold)

Stock No. 241

An attractive Walking Ware kneeling cup, designed by Roger Michell for Carlton Ware and Lustre Pottery in 1977, to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth.
This is the only example of Carlton Ware Lustre Pottery Walking Ware that bears the Carlton Ware script mark (see illus.above) rather than one of the combined backstamps or the separate backstamps for Carlton Ware and Lustre Pottery. It was a Carlton Ware factory mistake, and all of the Silver Jubilee kneeling cups that we have seen, bear this script mark to the underside of the cup.
Condition is good with no damages and only some expected wear to the underside of the knee. This example has the normal glaze crazing found on most Walking Ware.
