Rare 19th Century St. Clement Faience/Majolica Parrot Jug - Sold

A tall French 2nd half of the 19th century faience / majolica water jug modelled as a parrot designed by Keller & Guerin and made at the St. Clement Pottery in Southern France. .
Impressed marks in relief to the base for Keller & Guerin ,St. Clement and with the model number - 468.(see illus. above). Pitchers (pichets Fr.) bearing the St. Clement and K&G markings with three digit numbers are the rarest and most collectable of the St Clement pitchers
These early jugs are quite scarce, and sought after. So much so that this model and some others were reproduced by St.Clement in the 20th century in response to collectors' demand, - but with printed marks and inferior decoration.
This original 19th century parrot design is amongst the most desirable of the St. Clement range.
Condition is excellent.
