Carlton Ware Walking Ware Carribbean Running cup - (Sold)

Stock No. 333

A scarce Walking Ware Carribbean Running cup designed by Roger Michell for Carlton Ware and Lustre Pottery around 1979/80.
The tropical design was inspired by a visit to St. Lucia and was applied to a small proportion of the RJS (Running Jumping and Standing-still) tea sets with accompanying cups which had just come out at that time. There were two different cup designs in the RJS series - standing cups and running cups. They are both scarce designs compared to the initial ordinary Walking Ware cups because items from the RJS series were produced in smaller numbers and for less time. However, the running cup design is particularly scarce with Carribean decoration.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration and with minimal light crazing to the glaze .
Marked to the base with the semi-circular Carlton Ware / Lustre Pottery combined backstamp used for that series.
